The Aboriginal Canada Portal Working Group is pleased to present the 3rd National Connecting Indigenous Peoples in Canada Forum Report; "Building a National Indigenous E-Strategy Blueprint".
The 2004 National Connecting Indigenous Peoples in Canada Forum was held March 24th to March 26th at the Marriott Hotel in Ottawa and was planned, coordinated, organized and sponsored by the Aboriginal Canada Portal Working Group (ACPWG).
The ACPWG is a collaborative grouping of several federal departments and national Aboriginal organizations working in a collective effort to demonstrate the potential benefits of the Internet and broadband connectivity for Aboriginal communities.
While the previous Forums were focused on opportunities and challenges, the objective of this year’s Forum was to begin the process of identifying and proposing solutions forward. The resulting proceedings of the forum we have entitled “Building a National Aboriginal E-Strategy Blueprint”. While this report is not a strategy per se, it is our hope that the document will be helpful for the growing number of regional Aboriginal Connectivity tri-partite efforts underway across Canada.
Readers will also note the growing need to promote federal, provincial, territorial, Aboriginal community and private sector partnerships to encourage the development and awareness of on-line Aboriginal content and examine ways to reduce the digital divide among Aboriginal communities. This report, as well as full collection of related video archives of each of the roundtable panel sessions, is also available on the Aboriginal Canada Portal at www.aboriginalcanada.gc.ca
The Aboriginal Canada Portal Working Group would like to take this opportunity to thank all 156 federal, provincial, territorial inter-jurisdictional, private sector, international and Aboriginal community and organization representatives that participated and contributed to the success of the 2004 National Connecting Indigenous Peoples in Canada Forum.
Thank You,
